Nicotinamide Riboside Activates Protective Sirtuin Enzymes

Charles Brenner, PhD, director of the Obesity Initiative at the University of Iowa, discusses properties of nicotinamide riboside that have been uncovered since its initial discovery in 2004, including its activation of protective sirtuin enzymes, protection (in mice) from weight gain caused by overnutrition, protection from noise induced hearing loss, and protection in humans against both diabetic neuropathy and chemotherapeutic neuropathy.
