Sharonne Hayes, MD, on the Heart of Diversity and Inclusion: a Cardiologist's Perspective

Despite progress, cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains the top cause of death in the United States. Not only does CVD have a disproportionate impact on different populations, but it also has a direct bearing on the severity of COVID-19 infection. In this podcast, Sharonne Hayes, MD, discusses the importance of understanding CVD in the context of health equity. She also discusses new initiatives at the Mayo Clinic to understand and address structural racism in health care, as well as to promote diversity within its workforce.
