Why Pregnant and Nursing Women Need to Be Eating More Fish

Michael Roizen, MD, Chief Wellness Officer, Cleveland Clinic, and Chief Medical Correspondent for The Dr. Oz Show discusses the importance of fish as part of a healthy diet, especially for pregnant and nursing women. The new guidelines call for 200mg of DHA, which is equivalent to 2-3 servings of fish per week. Due to higher mercury content, pregnant and nursing women should avoid consuming the following five fish: 1. Swordfish 2. Shark 3. Tilefish 4. Mackerel 5. Bluefin Tuna.
