How can you readily determine whether your patient with bronchitis may benefit from an inhaled bronchodilator? One who continually wheezes is an obvious candidate. To detect subclinical bronchospasm, ask the patient to perform forced, rapid expiration while you listen to the lungs with a stethoscope.
