Introducing the New Clinical Geriatrics
Technology keeps moving forward at a record pace, so it is with pleasure and excitement that we announce that Clinical Geriatrics® will become an online-only publication starting with the May 2013 issue. This does not mean that the focus or mission of the journal is changing in any way. Clinical Geriatrics will remain an American Geriatrics Society (AGS) double-blinded, peer-reviewed clinical journal; maintain the highest editorial standards; and continue to provide practical information for clinicians whose patient base increasingly includes patients aged 50 years and older. We are confident that our move to an online format will only serve to enhance the journal’s relevance and reach, and here’s what you can expect:
• Monthly issues will continue to be published on our Website and announced through a monthly e-newsletter. To subscribe to our e-newsletters, visit www.clinicalgeriatrics.com/e-news.
• By not being restricted to a folio, the capacity to publish more original articles in each online issue increases. This also enables more timely publication of articles.
• We will continue to accept submissions. To see our author guidelines or to submit a manuscript via Rapid Review, visit www.clinicalgeriatrics.com/author-guidelines
• We will remain an open-access journal, but we are not changing the mechanism of this publishing model. We will not charge to review, publish, or edit articles. If an article is deemed suitable for publication after peer-review, it will be scheduled, edited for house and AMA style, and sent to the author(s) for review prior to publication, just as occurred when the journal was printed.
• You will find all the same departments online as appeared in the print journal, including First Report, AGS Spotlight, Washington Update, and Letters to the Editor.
As you can see, this is all good news. But our plans and efforts can only reach their full potential if we have an interactive and engaged audience. Our goal is for Clinical Geriatrics to be as relevant and useful to you as possible. To that end, we need to hear from you—the Clinical Geriatrics reader and follower—about what works, what could be improved, what you would like to see, and how we can better address your informational needs. We promise that we will do our utmost to apply your feedback while ensuring the journal continues to fulfill its mission of publishing superior, evidence-based, up-to-date clinical information.
If you have any thoughts, questions, or comments about this move, our articles, or Clinical Geriatrics in general, please send them to our associate editor, Allison Musante, at amusante@hmpcommunications.com.
We look forward to continuing to serve you!
